Case study

E-shop with product import, email server and backups

The owner of a bricks-and-mortar shop needed to start selling online as well. The solution included building an e-shop, automating the import of supplier products, configuring email correctly and setting up reliable backups.

Starting point

From a physical shop to online sales.

The aim was to extend an established physical shop with online sales without having to re-enter the suppliers’ entire range by hand.

The new e-shop therefore had to be able to import products from supplier sources. At the same time, reliable delivery of business email had to be sorted out, spam reduced and the data prepared for possible recovery.

Solution

E-shop, graphics, reliable email and restorable backups.

  1. E-shop and product import

Building an e-shop on the PrestaShop platform and setting up the import of products from suppliers.

  2. E-shop graphics

Collaboration on the visual design of the shop, including creating the logo and images of some of the products.

  3. Email and backups

Configuring the email server for better deliverability and spam filtering, together with backups of the e-shop and related data.

Operational context

Three parts that have to work together.

Selling online does not end with launching the catalogue. The import has to transfer usable data regularly, the shop needs to deliver its messages and important information has to be restorable.

The solution therefore connected the customer-facing part of the e-shop with the operational layers that visitors normally do not see. Long-term care can build on this with service monitoring and regular backup restore tests.

Result

Online sales with a stable technical foundation.

“Our goal was to extend sales from our bricks-and-mortar shop to the internet as well. Mr Vodička created an online shop for us with product import from our suppliers and also took part in the graphic design, including the logo and images of selected products. He configured the email server so that our messages were not marked as spam and unwanted mail was reliably filtered out. By introducing backups, he contributed to more stable operations.”
