Covering dead spots and more stable Wi‑Fi roaming
The home Wi‑Fi worked reliably mainly near the house, but in the more distant parts of the property it weakened or dropped out. The solution therefore combined better coverage with roaming between several access points.
The signal near the house was not enough for the whole property.
There were dead spots on the property where the connection was weak, unstable or not available at all.
Simply adding another access point would not have made use seamless. As they move around, devices need to connect to a closer access point at the right moment instead of staying on a distant one with a fading signal.
Continuous coverage and access points that work together.
Covering dead spots
The placement of the network devices was adjusted so that the Wi‑Fi also reaches places where the connection used to drop out or was unusable.
Wi‑Fi roaming
The access points were configured for roaming, which helps devices switch more stably to a better access point as they move around the house and the property.
On-site verification
The final configuration was assessed against real use in the covered areas, not just by whether the network was available right next to the house.
Coverage and device handover are two different problems.
A stronger signal in a dead spot does not by itself guarantee that a phone or laptop will disconnect from a distant access point in time. The result therefore depends on placement, channels, access point configuration and the behaviour of the client devices.
Verification has to take place where the network is actually used. For offices and business premises, this work can be followed by business network management or local IT management in Olomouc.
A more stable connection where it is actually needed.
The former dead spots now have usable Wi‑Fi coverage, and roaming has reduced problems when devices move between access points.
“The Wi‑Fi network on our property only worked near the house and repeatedly dropped out in the more distant parts. Mr Vodička proposed a better placement of the access points and set up the network to provide reliable coverage in the outdoor areas as well. An internet connection is now available everywhere we need it.”
